You would expect that the reaction to the news of pregnancy would always be a wow! But more often than you can imagine it’s an Oops!. Oops, I have no money! Oops, am not ready for a baby! Or Oops! What do I do next?  And for others it’s just the oops!... anxiety of being pregnant, the triumphs and travails of the journey that lies ahead. In Nigeria, one in eighteen women reportedly die giving birth! The possibility that something could go wrong makes pregnancy less appealing for many.

This is where OIP comes in ….  OIP is aimed at “Turning Pregnancy Oops!  to wow”. We are a not-for –profit organization committed to ensuring that helpless expectant mums are informed and sufficiently taken care of before, during and after pregnancy.

A  UNICEF report stated that, Women in developing countries are 300 times more likely to die than those in the industrialized world. Eighty per cent of those deaths could be prevented by simple, often low-cost treatments, and quality obstetric care. Now that’s sounds like an easy solution, so why do we allow our precious Nigerian women perish as a result of ignorance and poverty when many of us could make a difference?

It’s on this note that Oops I’m Pregnant seeks to bring down Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Nigeria.
